Shri Jagannath Sanskruti — Cultural Workshop for 100+ Warkaris

Samaradhana · Led by Smt Savita Sreeram · Warkari Sampradaya

With the blessings & divine guidance of Shri Vitthal Panduranga & Mata Rukmini, successfully completed a Cultural Workshop on the Shri Jagannath Sanskruti, with a group of 100 plus "Warkaris" led by Smt Savita Sreeram & her team under their organisational umbrella of "Samaradhana" in Sreekhsetra. The Warkaris had emerged from every corner of Bharat to perform their Ashhtapadis from Jayadev Goswamis Geeta Govinda & other eminent literature at the lotus feet of Shri Jagannath. It was an absolute delight that we could complete some parts of the Shri Chaitanya trail in Puri covering the Gambhira Muutth & Siddha Bakul Muutth as well. The energy levels were stupendous early in the morning & nothing can beat the vibes you get during the Mangala Alati. I remain deeply indebted to Shri Vitthal Panduranga for giving me this opportunity to serve his Warkaris & accompanying me to my home with Mata Rukmini.

IHAR West Bengal — Third Heritage Walk (Bagbazar Corridor)

IHAR West Bengal Chapter · Heritage Walk Series

IHAR West Bengal Chapter conducted its Third Heritage Walk on 4th January 2026 around the classical Bagbazar Corridor — touching upon some of the most important Built & Spiritual Heritage places of the erstwhile Calcutta, which was the epicentre of the Bengal Renaissance. The walk traced the layered urban memory of North Calcutta — its colonial-era architecture, spiritual centres, and the neighbourhoods that shaped the intellectual and cultural awakening of modern Bengal.

Heritage Walk has been a passion for the past fifteen years — and when it is Jyotisar, the call to walk the sacred ground becomes irresistible. Standing at the very centre of the 48 Kos Yudhbhumi of Kurukshetra, explaining the direction in which the seven Akshauni Sena of the Pandavas once stood — a moment where the Mahabharata ceases to be a text and becomes a lived landscape.

This trip was focused on the flight of deities & temples of Bengal — often unexplored and missing from the mainstream narrative of Bengal and Indian historiography. The walk covered the Shri Madan Mohan Vigraha which took its flight from its original Bishnupur temple, consecrated in 1694 CE by the Malla Kings, to the palatial house of Shri Gokul Chandra Mitra — one of the leading Salt businessmen of 18th-century Bengal.
